1.) The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company By: Rob Iger
This book is written by Rob Iger, the former CEO of the Walt Disney Company. While this is not about about software or app development, it is very beneficial to young entrepreneurs because Iger talks a lot about business strategy, formulating ideas, and then turning those ideas into reality. This is much like developing an app or software. It first starts as an idea, and then you must turn it into a reality!
2.) Strategize: Product Strategy and Product Roadmap Practices for the Digital Age By: Roman Pichler
This book is more geared for product managers. However, I think it is important for app developers and entrepreneurs to read because it explains strategies to help create successful software products. One of the things I think most app developers forget early on is just how important it is to have a roadmap and strategy to make sure that your app and/or software is successful!
3.) The Hard Thing About Hard Things: Building a Business When There Are No Easy Answers By: Ben Horowitz
This is a fantastic book for entrepreneurs interested in starting a software company. Ben talks a lot about the different software companies that he founded and ran. The interesting part about this book, is that Ben does not sugar coat things. He is upfront and honest about just how hard it is to run a software company. This is a must read for anyone interested in starting their own software company!
