Each year when the new iOS comes out, our development's team main concern is making sure that our client's apps are compatible with it. Most of the time, other than making sure all the new frameworks are updated, we do not really use any of the new features.
However, with iOS 14 we feel different! This perhaps is one of Apple's biggest iOS updates to date. There are a ton of new features that will benefit the every day user. My personal favorite: the new iMessage system.
My favorite part of this new iMessage system is the in-message reply feature. If you are familiar with other messaging platforms, such as Slack or WhatsApp, you will enjoy the addition of this feature to iOS 14.
You can now have reply threads to messages in iMessages. So if you have ever been in a group message that requires you to answer a question that is lost through the scatter of incoming messages, you can now respond to that individual message in a thread.
Likewise, another cool feature to iMessage in iOS 14 is the ability to now mention people in group messages. User's can now choose to only be notified in group messages when someone mentions their name. This is a very useful addition to help streamline group messaging. Perhaps this is another reason to not invite those Android users to the group chat ;)
