On Tuesday afternoon Apple unveiled a variety of new products. Below is a summary:
iPhone 13 ($799) "Our customers rely on iPhone every day, which is why we’ve made iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini more powerful, more capable, and more fun to use,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing.
What a sly dog Greg is.
I have a few thoughts on this quote.
1- True, we are all hooked on Apple products and are completely reliant on them. It does make sense. Their products are sleek, sexy and user-friendly
2- iPhone 13?! These people are evil geniuses. Apple could come out with a phone tomorrow that would possess the technological capabilities that the iPhone 20 will four years from now. But they won’t.
It is obvious to me that they’ve had a plan in place since the beginning: remodel their products little by little (and also makes sure the battery on their phones dwindles as the years pass) to entice you to press the purchase button on yet another thousand dollar phone.
It is truly amazing. iPhones (and the plans for them) ain’t cheap. Yet, EVERYONE has one. If you don’t, you are literally an outcast. Do you trust someone without an iPhone? I am not sure that I do. End of rant.
Apple claims that the battery life of the 13 will last between 1.5-2 hours longer. That is good news. But if it’s still going to die out like all of my iPhones have after 2-3 years, it’s not all it’s hyped up to be.
“Cinematic Mode” is a new feature of iPhone 13. This feature allows the user to go back and forth between subjects while taking a video and focus on each of those subjects. Compare to portrait mode for your camera. But for video.
I will commend Apple for stepping up their camera game. I have the iPhone 12 and the camera is wildly impressive. Unless you are a professional photographer, why would you even need anything else?
Colors for the iPhone 13 include: red, starlight (getting fancy with the names here), midnight, blue and pink.
In total, there are four models available for the new phone: standard version, Mini model, plus Pro and Pro Max model.
To conclude this rather long iPhone section, below is a list of all the iPhones that Apple is currently offering:
iPhone SE: $399
iPhone 11: $499
iPhone 12: $599
iPhone 13: $699
iPhone 13 Pro: $999

Budget iPad /iPad Mini ($499/$329)
The new “Entry Level” iPad’s main allure is that it offers significantly higher storage.
Apple claims that the iPad Mini will perform at a speed 80% faster than ever seen before. I’ll believe it when I see it.
Also, both tablet’s cameras will be upgraded. Eh. Who uses an iPad for photography?
Apple Watch Series 7 ($399)
Once again, it is cool. But when will it end?! iWatch 90?! There is no end in sight.
Let me be clear: I am an Apple advocate. I just find this all amusing. I still have the same iWatch my grandfather gifted me over a half a decade ago. It still works and looks nearly the exact same as the latest model. Genius marketing by Tim Apple and the gang.
As noted in my last blog, along with these releases brings IOS 15 into play. Set to be released September 20th.
From USA Today:
All devices will be available to preorder on Friday and launch in stores on Sept. 24. The iPhone 13 will start at $699 for the Mini model, all the way up to the iPhone 13 Pro Max at $1,099.
Aaaaaaand that’s all I got. Enjoy the rest of your weekends, everyone.
